Fernandina Beach & Amelia Island Beach Weddings

Amelia Island Beach Weddings and What You Need To Know...

PERMITS

There is no fee or permit required to have your own Amelia Island beach wedding at any of the public City beach accesses on Amelia Island. Just choose your public beach access point (over 40 to choose from).

THINGS TO CONSIDER:

  • Leashed pets are allowed on the beaches of Amelia Island, but must be picked up after.
  • Consider substituting bird seed for rice.
  • SEA TURTLES MAY BE JOINING YOU. Sea turtles nest between May 1st and October 31st on our beaches. During this season, lighting and flash photography is not allowed pre-dawn or post-dusk on the beach.

The following items are not allowed on Amelia Island beaches:

  • Balloons
  • String
  • Alcohol
  • Open Flame (cooking is not allowed on the beach)

Beach Wheelchairs
The Parks & Recreation Department has two (2) beach wheelchairs available for reservations at the Atlantic Recreation Center.  A refundable deposit of $50 per chair and a copy/imprint of a major credit card and driver's license are required.  Please call the Atlantic Recreation Center at 904-310-3350 for availability and reservations. 
NOTE:  Beach wheelchairs may be reserved for up to 7 consecutive days.  Reservations may be made up to 1 year in advance.

Public City Beach Accesses with Parking

These public access points have very limited parking and are perfect for elopements and intimate ceremonies with little to no set-up requirements.

The following has a larger parking area with no facilities and no vehicle traffic on the beach.  Driving on the beach is prohibited in this area.  It is perfect for ceremonies up to 50 guests. 

  
North Beach Park Access:  #12N ADA accessibility

A quiet beach park on the north end of the island, North Beach Park provides two covered pavilions, picnic tables, parking and a boardwalk to the beach. For rental and general information on any of the City of Fernandina Beach parks, please call the Atlantic Recreation Center at (904) 277-7350.

     

The following has a larger parking area and facilities. These areas allow driving on the beach and can get busy during peak season and certain times of the day.


Main Beach Park: #Dolphin Street Access ADA accessibility.

Looking for Amelia Island beach access with a few concessions and activities? Then head to Main Beach Park (located at Atlantic and South Fletcher Avenue). Main Beach Park offers public restrooms, outdoor showers, picnic tables, barbecues, gazebos, volleyball courts and children’s playground. Park vehicles at Main Beach’s large parking lot and enter the beach for free. A casual beach bar and restaurant (Sandy Bottoms) is located at Main Beach. Also at Main Beach is Fernandina’s Putt-Putt(serves burgers, milk shakes, ice cream, soft drinks at the beach).


Seaside Park Access

In between Main Beach Park toward the north end of Amelia Island, and Peter’s Point toward the southend of the island, is Seaside Park near Sliders (at the roundabout of South Fletcher Avenue and Sadler Road). There is a smaller public parking lot at Seaside Park (free) with dune walkovers and a couple of picnic tables, and public restrooms have now been added to this beach access. Sliders located at Seaside Park is an oceanfront restaurant with outdoor tiki bar and often has live entertainment in the evenings. Also across the street from Seaside Park near the roundabout is a beach gear rental shop and place to rent bicycles.

Peters Pointe

Peter’s Point, on South Fletcher Avenue (Nassau County, Florida) offers large parking area, restrooms, outdoor showers, picnic tables and barbeques. Food trucks have been permitted at Peter’s Point.

Burney Park at American Beach 
1556 Gregg St, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034
Burney Park is located on Amelia Island’s southend in between Summer Beach and Omni Amelia Island Plantation (beach access #109, turn onto Gregg Street from First Coast Highway/A1A). Beach park offers restrooms, outdoor showers and picnic tables.

Fort Clinch State Park

2601 Atlantic Ave, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034

At over 1,400 acres, Fort Clinch State Park is situated on Florida’s northernmost barrier island- Amelia Island.  Fort Clinch State Park provides an excellent backdrop and is perfect for smaller weddings along the Atlantic Beach. Call 904-277-7233  for more info.


Fernandina Plaza Historic State Park sits atop a bluff along the Amelia River on Estrada Street in the town of Fernandina, on the northern end of Amelia Island. It is the historic site of Fort San Carlos, a Spanish fort dating back to the early 1800's. The property is now managed by Fort Clinch State Park as part of the Florida Park Service and has been a state managed property since 1941. ​Amelia Island State Park

At the southern tip of the island is the Amelia Island State Park located near the southend bridge, First Coast Highway/A1A) with over 200 acres of beachfront and forest, a wonderful natural environment. Little Talbot Island State Park

Little Talbot Island State Park is a Florida State Park located on Little Talbot Island, 17 miles northeast of Jacksonville on State Road A1A. The park covers the entire 2,500-acre island.

With more than five miles of beautiful, white sandy beaches, Little Talbot Island is one of the few remaining undeveloped barrier islands in Northeast Florida. Maritime forests, desert-like dunes and undisturbed salt marshes on the western side of the island allow for hours of nature study and relaxation.

Capacity and Pricing Wedding permits are $50 plus regular park admission of $5 per vehicle 2-8 people or $4 for single person. Thirteen beach front pavilions are available for full-day rentals at $40. Each pavilion can accommodate 40 people comfortably with 8 picnic tables and 2 grills for your convenience.​
